RubyRock Pictures, Melbourne-based Princess Pictures and Los Angeles based Capricornia Content are in development on a TV adaptation of Justin Somper’s award-winning six-book series ‘Vampirates’.

‘Vampirates’ is an exhilarating, darkly twisted adventure series. In a future world, ocean levels have risen, there’s a new golden age of piracy and an eternal ship of vampires voyages through the night. When orphaned twins Grace and Connor Tempest are ship-wrecked in a violent storm Connor is rescued by Wu Cheng Li, Deputy Captain of The Diablo – notorious pirate ship of charismatic Captain Molucco Wrathe. Grace is saved by Lorcan Furey, charming Midshipman of the mysterious Nocturne, a ship of Vampirates. Thanks to their all-powerful Captain, its immortal crew have learned to control their appetite for blood – albeit keeping a cargo of live ‘donors’ on board. Grace and Connor’s rescues set in motion a series of explosive events which will not only define their own young lives but forever change both the world of piracy and the Vampirate realm.
